With a new president and vice-president, Trenton City Council is moving right along with the business of governing the Capital City.

The first meeting of 2026 began with City Clerk Brandon Garcia leading the meeting to elect a new Council President, as is the yearly process for Trenton.

Jenna Figueroa-Kettenburg was unanimously voted in as the 2026 president of the council. Councilwoman Jennifer Williams was elected as vice president.

“I’m honored by the unanimous support of my colleagues,” Figueroa Kettenburg said to The Trentonian. “As Council President and South Ward Councilwoman, I’m keenly aware of the many important issues before us, and my focus will be on collaborative, transparent, and efficient council leadership that keeps Trenton residents first.”

“I am honored and proud to serve in this role on Trenton City Council as we head into our fourth year together,” Williams told The Trentonian. “We have many challenges and opportunities ahead of us, and through serving as Vice-President, I look forward to supporting Council President Figueroa Kettenburg and our full body to tackle them. I greatly appreciate the confidence my Council colleagues have in me to help lead as we work together to help all of Trenton.”

The business of city council went along as normal, with a short meeting Tuesday night, and the council members reflecting on the previous year in their public statements.

The board tabled a vote on Trenton Water Works issues because all members wanted more information on the topic before voting.
