HS Wrestling Wrap: Lawrence coach Chris Lynne gets career win No. 400

BERGENFIELD — It was another historic milestone for Lawrence High School wrestling coach Chris Lynne on Monday.

In a dual-match tourney at Bergenfield High, Lynne upped his career win total to 400 as his Cardinals defeated Freehold Boro, 48-30, and Bergenfield, 55-19.

Now in his 40th season at the Lawrence helm, Lynne is the winningest coach in Mercer County wrestling history.  In second place on the all-time list is Hightstown’s Mike Russo with 379. Hopewell Valley’s Mario Harpel is third with 350.

WEST WINDSOR TRI

PLAINSBORO  – Robbinsville defeated Nottingham, 51-25, and West Windsor North, 66-15.  In the third part of the tri, Nottingham won its first match of the  year when it defeated West Windsor North, 42-28. In the win over Nottingham, Robbinsville was led by pins by Vincent Grippa, Tyler Shane, Tony Migliaccio and Anthony Inverso. Highlights for Nottingham included a pin by heavyweight Malcolm Louissant and Lincoln Samonski’s 5-4 win Michael Panzer at 132 pounds. In the victory over West Windsor North, Lucas Messinger pinned in 17 seconds and Shane pinned in 11 seconds.

WASHINGTON — Delaware Valley came in second in the team standings when it finished 2.5 points behind St. Joe’s of Metuchen. Princeton came in 11th out of 13 teams. Zyair Mackey led the Little Tigers with a third at 215 pounds. Colin Fitzgerald (150) and Dayron Ospina Posada (175) finished fourth for Princeton.
